Use A Misting System For Outdoor Cooling

A misting System for outdoor cooling can keep you cool all summer long. There are many ways in which you can try to keep cool during the summer months, most of us simply head indoors and turn on the air conditioner. But this isn’t a particularly cost effective method and it’s not that great for the environment, what with the way electricity is generated. There is another way that you can keep cool, it’s low cost and you can do it outdoors. It’s called an outdoor misting system. This is a great system to install with a porch awning on your patio or deck.

Outdoor Misting System

On your patio or exterior deck, you can install an outdoor misting system with a reasonably low amount of installation requirements. The water pipes can be strung up around the beams of the patio and then the misting nozzles, the key to the entire system, can be placed at strategic spots along the length.

Each misting nozzle will produce a fine mist if tiny water droplets. These water droplets quickly evaporate as they hit the air and this evaporation leaves behind cool air in the immediate vicinity. With misting nozzles operating around the perimeter of the patio there will be a noticeable drop in the temperature and the patio will become a cool oasis on a warm day.

Whereas an air conditioning system requires quite a lot of electricity to operate, a misting system requires virtually none. An air conditioner can make the air uncomfortably dry while the act of dispersing water droplets in the air helps to keep the humidity level comfortable. The fact that you are using water doesn’t actually result in a feeling of dampness because of the flash evaporative effect.

Cost of a Misting System

The main cost of operating an outdoor misting system boils down to the water usage which is actually very low. The holes through which the water is released are very small, as small as 10 microns in diameter, and depending on the water pressure the amount of water used may only be around a gallon per hour for each misting nozzle in use.

These misting systems have been in use for quite some time commercially and it has only recently been discovered for domestic use. Make sure you buy quality products to reduce the risk of leakage and nozzle failure and you should be sitting comfortably through the summer months on your own cool patio.
