Hair Removal : Some Simple Options

Hair removal is important in many cultures as there is a level of hair which is seen as socially acceptable and those with hair in excess of that level can be subject to a certain amount of social disapproval. In these cases, removing hair is not seen as just cosmetic. It is essential to take measures to limit the amount of facial and other hair on their body, or risk being perceived as lazy and careless, which can lead to social ostracism. Fortunately there are many simple options for women to remove hair. The permanent methods of hair removal are too costly for many women, so we will focus on the temporary methods here.

1. Shaving. Shaving is an easy and quick option to remove hair for many women, but the effects only last about two to three days or less depending on the person. With shaving, also, hair appears to grow back thicker than before due to the effect of blunt stubble.

2. Depilatories. These are creams and lotions that are applied to the skin which chemically dissolve hair. There are many different brands and it is important to do a patch test to ensure that you are not sensitive to the ingredients. Some have been known to cause skin irritations and even chemical burns.

3. Tweezing. Tweezers are perhaps the most common facial hair remover for women. Women can easily shape their eyebrows and get rid of stray hairs by plucking hairs out one by one from the roots. Although it is a tedious job, the results are worthwhile, at least as far as the face is concerned but this would be too time consuming for larger areas.

4. Waxing. Removing hair is achieved by applying a cold or hot wax on the area you want to take hair from and then removing it with the use of cloth strips. This kind of removal is better for long lasting results that can last anything from three to five weeks.
